Last week saw a celebration of all that is good and bright about Chisholm. It was a wonderful celebration of the dedication, effort and skill of the students and staff. The three major events showcased the strengths of Chisholm Catholic College students, families and staff.
Awards Night
Awards Night allowed us to celebrate the excellence and effort that many students have put in this year. For the award recipients this was culmination of nearly 12 months of hard work, diligence and the continual drive to improve. To see so many students presented with awards was very pleasing and is a testament to their efforts this year. We were also able to showcase the best of Chis Culture through the excellent performances from our students as well. Chisholm certainly has a lot of talent amongst our students.
Graduation Mass
Our Graduation Mass at St Matthews last Thursday night and our Graduation ceremony last Friday was an affirmation of our Catholic Identity. It was a lovely occasion that allowed our Year 12s to celebrate eucharist together for the last time.
Graduation Ceremony
Our Graduation Ceremony was a joyous occasion that ensured the graduating class of 2024 were able to be sent off in style. They Year 12s have been ably led by Emily Stenzel and Hayley Olsen this year and it was fitting that they were able to lead the Year 12s through our traditional Guard of Honour. To see the emotions and sadness of the younger years as their friends passed through the guard highlighted the strength that our Chisholm Family holds. It was also so wonderful to see so many parents, families and friends of our graduates attend the ceremony. It does require a partnership to graduate a student, and I am so grateful that we were able to celebrate this occasion with the families of our graduates.
Congratulations to all of our Award Winners and to all of our Graduates, we hope that they can continue to follow in the footsteps of Caroline Chisholm and ‘Live Christ’s Challenge’ to make a positive difference.

St. Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal
As we move closer to the festive season, we want to extend our gratitude to all families for your generous contributions to the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. Each year, the St. Vincent De Paul Loganholme Conference package and deliver our donations to families in need of support in our local community, in the hope that all people experience the joy and hope that Christmas provides. If you would still like to contribute, please note that the final day for donations is Wednesday, 20th November 2024. Let’s continue to embody the spirit of giving and ensure that no one in our community is left behind this Christmas.
Awards Night
We would also like to thank everyone who joined us for Awards Night last week. Despite the stormy weather, it was heartwarming to see so many of you gather in celebration of our students' incredible achievements. The event was a success, showcasing the hard work, talent, and dedication of our students, staff, and wider community. Your presence made the evening even more special, and I know the students appreciated having both staff and community present. Thank you all.
Graduation Mass and Celebration
Finally, thank you to the families who gathered to celebrate the journey that has been the last 13 years for the graduating class of 2024. Beginning with Mass on Thursday evening at St. Matthew’s Parish Loganholme and finishing on Friday morning with the Graduation Ceremony here at school, these events marked a meaningful and joyous culmination of the students' educational journey. We wish all our graduates every success for the future.
As we move into the final three weeks of school, some important reminders:
- Our Year 11s will complete their Exam Block this week, and finish school on Friday, 22nd November.
- The Year 10s are currently finalising all assessment this week and will finish school on Friday, 22nd November. Year 10 students are required to empty lockers and take all belongings home for the end of the year.
- Year 7 – 9 students will continue working on Campus until the final day – Thursday, 5th December 2024.
- Year 9 students will begin to hand in their laptops as per the transition to senior school. This process will begin on Thursday, 28th November.
- All students are reminded that full and correct school uniform is required to be worn up until and including the final day.
Thank you to all families for making this year a successful one.
God bless.

Week 10: Alternate Learning Timetable
During Week 10, our students in Years 7-9 will be embarking on an exciting alternate program designed to ignite their creativity and innovation. Students will be supervised in their Core classes by a variety of teachers.
What's Happening?
Instead of their regular classes, students will participate in a series of engaging activities led by our dedicated staff in faculty areas. This initiative not only provides a refreshing change for our students but also allows our teachers valuable time for 2025 planning sessions.
Key Details:
- Student Cohorts: Students will move through activities in their year groups. Year 7, Year 8, and Year 9 will each have dedicated sessions. Students will be given an alternate timetable for the week on Monday of Week 10.
- Session Times: Each session will be 1.5 hours long, packed with fun and learning.
- Theme: "Future Ready! Innovation and Creativity" – a theme that promises to inspire and challenge our students.
- Year 9 Laptops: Please note that Year 9 students will not have access to their laptops during these sessions as they will be returning these in Week 9.
- Tuesday will be HPE focus for at least 1 session. All students should wear PE uniform on Tuesday.
- Materials for learning: Students should bring materials for learning including pencil case, water bottle and hats for outdoor activities.
Why the Change to Week 10?
This collaborative approach means students will be able to be complete activities and learning experiences as a cohort. A real capstone to a year's worth of learning. We are excited about this innovative week and look forward to seeing our students thrive in this dynamic environment. Thank you for your continued support!
2025 School Fees
During Term 3, a focus for Chisholm Catholic College was the preparation of the 2025 school budget. This work aimed to ensure we can continue to provide the best education for your child and protect the financial sustainability of the school.
The main factor influencing Chisholm Catholic College is the government funding model that determines our fees, based on student needs and calculated on a Direct Measure of Income (DMI) score.
This has resulted in an overall 3.5% increase in the school fees and levies for 2025.
I appreciate that an increase in fees can be difficult for some families in our community. If you have any concerns about the 2025 school fees, please contact the College to discuss your family’s circumstances.

- Fast growth within an occupation does not guarantee more job opportunities because the number of people seeking work may outnumber the job openings.
- Even occupations with declining job prospects can offer job opportunities as people move across jobs.
- It is always difficult to accurately predict long-term job prospects.
Consequently, when you are making career decisions, a job's prospect is just one piece of information you need to consider. Other information includes your interests, skills, values, aspirations, work preferences, education and training requirements.

Creative Arts Department End-of-Year Newsletter
As we approach the end of another incredible year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the amazing achievements and memorable performances from our Creative Arts Department. This year has been a whirlwind of creativity and talent, and students have worked tirelessly both in and out of class to put on standout events such as the 2024 College Musical ‘The Wiz’, Scene Project, Queensland Catholic Music Festival (QCMF), and our spectacular Creative Arts Night (to name a few). Each performance showcased the dedication and passion of our students and staff, making us all incredibly proud.
We are immensely proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the students who have poured their hearts into their performances and projects. Your commitment and creativity have truly shone through. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the staff, whose guidance and support have been instrumental in making this year such a success.
But don’t despair! Even though the school year is ending, there are plenty of activities to keep your creative spirits high over the holidays. Check out some of the below suggestions for families to enjoy together, all with a focus on the creative and performing arts:
1. Create Your Own Theatre Production
Why not put on a family play or musical at home? Write a script, assign roles, and get creative with costumes and props. It’s a fun way to spend time together and let your imaginations run wild.
2. Host a Family Art Night
Gather some art supplies and have a family art night. You can paint, draw, or even try your hand at sculpting with clay. Display your masterpieces around the house to create your own gallery. Or take on some DIY craft projects like making Christmas decorations, creating homemade gifts, or designing your own greeting cards.
3. Make Music Together
Have a family jam session with any instruments you have at home. If you don’t have instruments, you can make your own using household items like pots, pans, and rubber bands. It’s a great way to explore music and rhythm.
4. Virtual Museum Tours
Many museums offer virtual tours that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. Explore famous art collections and exhibitions online. It’s an educational and inspiring activity for all ages. Alternatively, make a day of it and spend a day exploring art galleries and museums, many of which offer special holiday programs and interactive exhibits for children.
5. Dance Party
Turn up the music and have a dance party in your living room. You can learn new dance moves, create your own choreography, or just dance freely. It’s a fantastic way to stay active and have fun.
6. Visit a Local Theatre
Many local theatres offer family-friendly performances during the holiday season. Check out the latest shows and enjoy a night of drama and excitement. Find out more about upcoming performances here: QPAC, HOTA, Beenleigh Theatre Group.
7. Watch a Holiday Film or Musical
Enjoy a cozy movie night with a selection of holiday-themed films and musicals. It’s a perfect way to relax and get into the festive spirit.
We hope these activities inspire you to keep the creative energy flowing throughout the holidays. Thank you for being a part of our vibrant Creative Arts community. We look forward to seeing you all in the new year, ready for more exciting performances and artistic endeavours.
Best wishes, The Creative Arts Department
